Sok sikert a magánéletben.
OTTAWA -- Ottawa native Brad Fritsch will be sporting the logo of his favourite NHL team next season on the PGA Tour.
The Ottawa Senators announced a promotional partnership with Fritsch on Monday, a day after the local golfer locked up a spot on the PGA Tour.
The partnership provides Fritsch with financial support and will see him wear the Senators logo on his shirt and golf bag. The 34-year-old resident of Manotick, Ont., will also participate in a number of community events with the Senators.
"I am overjoyed to partner with and represent the NHL team that I've grown up with the last 20 years," Fritsch said in a release. "It is an honour and a pleasure to be associated with the Senators and my hope is that this is a partnership that will last for many, many years."
Mi mindent megtettünk a megállapodásért.
Erik Karlsson looked right at home in his debut in Finland Saturday night.
The Senators defenceman took a red-eye to Helsinki Friday, landed on game day, skated with his new team Saturday night and then scored the opening goal in a 5-1 win over HPK in front of 10,000 fans at Hartwell Arena.
Karlsson, who flew Ottawa-Chicago-Helsinki and scored at 19:14 of the first period, was pleased with the way it worked out.
Chris Phillips has joined former teammate Dany Heatley by suing ex-agent Stacey McAlpine.
According to a report in Thursday’s Globe and Mail, Phillips has launched a $7.5-million suit to recover lost money as a result of bad real estate deals. Last month it was revealed Heatley is suing McAlpine for $11 million because of similar circumstances.
The report said Phillips launched the suit at the Ontario court in Ottawa during the summer because he felt was misled by McAlpine and hasn’t been able to recover monies.
“Chris is angry and disappointed with the conduct of Stacey McAlpine,” said Peter Mantas, Phillips’ lawyer. “He trusted Mr. McAlpine. … He will vigorously pursue this litigation against Mr. McAlpine.”
The report said Phillips hasn’t been able to access more than $5.5 million of his money being handled by McAlpine.
Phillips claim alleges the money was used to buy a condo in Ottawa where Heatley was supposed to live and a property near Kenora called Deception Bay.
OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators have locked up another young forward after signing centre Zack Smith to a US$7.55-million, four-year extension on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old is coming off a career-best season that saw him score 14 goals and 26 points in 81 games. His game also includes some edge, as evidenced by 98 penalty minutes.
Smith is now under contract to Ottawa through the 2016-17 season.
"It's hard to find good young NHL players and when you get them, you want to make sure you have them for term if at all possible," said Senators GM Bryan Murray. "It allows us to have another good young player to build around."
A third-round pick in 2008, Smith has appeared in 152 career games for the Senators. He also helped the organization's American Hockey League team in Binghamton win the Calder Cup in 2011.
Murray jól használja ki bérviták alatti időt. Bravó, újabb jó szerződés.
